Carrie has a BA in Environmental/Visual Design from North Carolina State University. She has practiced photography for 25 years, specializing professionally in portraiture over the past seven years.

“I recognized my passion for photography back in high school, where I learned the core elements from a widely recognized photography mentor, Byron Baldwin of Charlotte, NC. Byron was a teacher who had a way of inspiring creativity while gently (and sometimes not so gently) helping me weed out the rubbish.

I spent the bulk of my college years doing photojournalism and working in the darkroom. My career direction took a detour as my husband and I moved overseas to work with Habitat for Humanity, although I never put down the camera. Six years of living in Africa offered grand opportunities for my photography journey. My last two years in Africa were spent starting my business venture in portrait photography.

Now, happily settled in the NC mountains with my family, I am blending my photography passion with my own life experiences to create captivating artistic portraits of life.

I would love an opportunity to make customized portraits of your children or family. Each session takes about an hour and can be shot at either my home studio and outdoor surroundings or a location of your choice.”
